More sketches

Here are some more sketches, drawings and letterings I did in different moments during the semester.

This first one I did it in the plane going to SF. I hadn't used my moleskine for a couple of years and decided to use it again in this trip.

It says something like: "After 2 years without drawing in this sketchbook, I'll start using it again. The reason? Since I started it in a previous trip, I plan to finish it in this one" or something like that...

Perspective picture for non aparent reason.

This guy was falling asleep in that flight and I hadn't practiced doodling people live for a while.

This one's from my jury duty wait... because you have to wait a lot in jury duties.

The one who's saying "animation" in front of "japan" is Tom Bertino. He's a super cool dude, absolutely in love with animation, and also, the first person that I know with a wikipedia entry. He also was my teacher in my history of animation class.

The guy in red in this one is mr Nobuhito Tanaka, aka mr Nobu. He was my teacher in "drawing from imagination". He doesn't put much effort in his drawings while explaining something, but BOY CAN HE PAINT!

Random lettering in doodles is good for your health.

Those are speackers on a tank. Is a concert tank!

I was feeling uninspired while drawing this, and I was in that same position with that same clothes trying to move the pencil with my mind. Didn't make it, of course, but at least gave me an idea to draw something.

I drew this furry bird-dinasaur while going to my first "drawing from imagination" class. Kinda like the posture and the position of the hands.

Javi-Javi and Carlita, together they save the world with the power or rocking and gigantic cats =)

Angry bunnies and angry pigs are more fun than angry birds (which is actually no fun. It just pokes exceedingly well that part of people's brain that makes people have temporarily OCD, but is actually very very boring... stupid overrated game).

Two letters count as lettering?

Some faces for a possible thingy in the future..

Just like this guy...

And this other one. And almost everything I draw. Just imaginary project. Hopefully one of this three will see the light someday.

That's it for today kids! Have a great weekend!

Old sketchbook drawings

I'm currently filling two sketchbooks, there's a third one half-way, a fourth that I was about to start using but decided not to because of all the others -I did draw a couple of things in it already- and a fifth one that it's still wraped because I want to save it for the last of the bunch (is like a giant sized moleskine, so I'm savouring all the others and letting this one as the chocolate bottom you find in a delicious ice-cream). Don't really know why... Sometimes I feel like a dog trying to carry four tennis balls at the same time.

Oh well!! Old sketchbook time!!

There was a time when I went and visit a lot this (almost always) empty bar where me beautiful friend GRMZ used to work. I sketched this in one of those visits.

I drew a similar chicken-rooster-whatever in one of the starbucks checks and just felt like drawing this... (respect the sock!)

After watching a Batman drawing somewhere, I thought "why does batman has those horn-like thingies?? I know that they are the ears of the bat, but is it really a recognizable part of the animal?". So I went for "Sharkman" using the same bat-mask idea (love the concept of adding "bat" to something, and is automatically property of mr Bat). He has a recognizable fin that according to me is a better symbol of shark than ears representing a bat... just sayin'. (I also think he would be a super gross cannibal)

Playing with random elements such as lettering, a girl in stripes, a sausage and a turtle. I like turtles.

Had this strange Idea for some time...

It's an octopus with a capitol R and coctail umbrellas, in case you didn't notice.

So, around a year ago (I think) someone came up with a way to make google translate beat box (press the "listen" button), and I thought it was a great excuse to do some (amateur) lettering.

Not really finished, a "sherlock holmes" robot.

Detail.

This is a short story of a drummer octopus I have in my head. Not showing scenes, only the character.

Subway sketch.

"El Divinísimo Anticristo"

This is a quick drawing of an urban celebrity that roams the "Santiago Centro" sector in Santiago, Chile.

My best shot at this guy's name in english would be "the very highly divine anti-christ". He is kind of a living legend. From what I know, he used to study literature (or something related) and for some reason he went nuts. Now he usually wears women's dresses (because according to him, the anti-christ is hermaphrodite and he can wear whatever he wants); carries a supermarket kart with weird things in it, like a left shoe, cables and radio transistors, some novels and writings he did; and yells the most amazingly unrelated and random things with a super high pitch voice to people passing by. If you stare, he might tell you something about a Spaniard galleon, a politician named Chadwick, the zoo and mango juice.

Let me give you an example... around a year ago me and some friends ran into him. For some reason he was heading the same direction as we, and after hearing us talk in a good mood after a good lunch, this guy stopped us and said: "in the morning, after you take your hallucinogen pills, when you go head-hunting focus on the people with the biggest money sign over their heads. Those are the worthy ones". I still keep his words of wisdom very close...

Have a good one!
