My little brother is getting married!

I'm cheating a bit with that statement, since I'm the oldest one of six... so technically they're all my little brothers and sisters, but what the hell, He's getting married!!

I designed and illustrated their wedding invitation, and it was actually super fun! I love them both so much, so at the beginning I thought it would be hard to turn them into a nice looking caricature... but they're both good-looking, so all I had to do is follow references and don't screw it up.

Tati is a chemist and my brother is a musician. Dirty Barry is with them also messing around... There are some minor details that I wanted to put in, such as the Gibson Les Paul, which is my favorite guitar model and is also the first electric guitar me and my brother held in our hands 'cause my dad owned one. It wasn't this color though (it was a cool looking black design with a white edge), I decided to change it for the illustration's sake.

The chord that Tati is making is also the essential chord for my band Renacimiento Mortuorio, my precarious metal band, and our singles "Demencia" and "Depresión" (without that chord the band would not exist). Why is this inside my brother's wedding invitation? Well, he and Tati are huge fans of my music (and they really shouldn't be), I played Depresión many times at the place they met, to the people surrounding the bonfire in Trailanqui, and also... I dunno, it made laugh!

The following drawings and sketches are some little surprises I put inside.

I will have some of my super best friends at the wedding party and some fun music, I'll be in Chile for a week and I don't know, it will be awesome!!!!!!! I'm just super super excited for everything =)

See you soon friends! Happy wedding dear Tati and Andrés!!!! This will be AWESOME!!!

Have a good one people of the world!!!

Old Man with a cigarette

The original pic was taken at the even piers, south from the Embarcadero.

I did this in the toned paper section of my sketchbook, and I used some PS to separate the figure from the background a bit.

That's it for now.

Tattooed muscle dude

Don't really know where this character is supposed to be from. From some obscured part of the Polynesia, maybe? I was trying to push some shapes and give them enough shading to convey the different volumes, keeping it sharper in the face and not too much on the rest of the body.

I used a bit of PS to separate it from the background.

Hope you like it!

Harry!

This was a silly happening that turned into a silly thought... It all started when I was having a shower (I sweat a lot, so you may say that is my civic duty). Well, after using the soap I saw this magnificent cursive capital D made with a hair of some mysterious part of my body, and I was impressed. Handwritten cursive capital D's are already tough to make right with a pencil a paper! And this one was marvelous!!

So of course, I thought of this very hairy and big artist that wrote with hairs of his different body parts. Stupid idea, I know, but I decided to draw that anyway, and here's the result =)

And these below are a couple of sketches before reaching the face I liked. Not too much research, but it was still fun to draw

Improvised comic

A silly comic I came up with while listening at some loud music, walking around SF. It really turns me off when I'm caught in the groove and I have to pause my tune to pay attention to what some random guy wants to tell me.

After I finished it I found some continuity flaws but blah... Next time it'll be better, and probably with a different style.

See ya soon!

Old Lady

I drew this while joining a couple of girl friends at her working session. It was chick flick night, Titanic was on, and I started drawing this old lady.

You should check their work! Ana and Chibi. Two of the coolest people I've met here in San Francisco. They have some really nice work.

Later!

Barry el sucio

... Or Dirty Barry. This little guy is my brother's cat. I haven't met him yet, but I will in September. It was actually very fun to draw =)

This drawing is for my brother's wedding invitation. When the invitation is printed, I will post more drawings I did for it.

Cheers!

Oldie

This is quite an old drawing. I think it has at least five or six years, and is one of the few ones from that time that I still think is worth showing. I actually like it quite a bit =)

Maybe's the consistency of a style that I usually don't follow, the geometric shapes or maybe is the composition that surprisingly doesn't suck, considering it was made in a moment I didn't actually cared about that... oh well, I still like it!

I'll have a bit batch of drawings soon.

See you then!

My desk and some dry media

Hello people of the world! Well, this is a picture of my (very messy) workplace, which I expect to eventually cover in bad lettering, some pastel drawings I did during last semester (the pics aren't the best either... sigh!), and some charcoals that I quite like. They could use some extra contrast in these pics, but meh... Actually, the charcoal head drawing is my favorite head drawing so far, and also the quickest. It took me 45 minutes :)

Ok people, have a great week! I'll see what I upload next.

Have a nice one!

Character Design assignments

Well, this are my Character Design assignments for last semester's class. There's only one assignment missing... or two? Whatever, I don't think they're good enough.

Hope you like them!

Oh, I DO have a blog!

This is ackward... It's been a (long) while since I've updated something here. Yeah, the busy school and the lack of internet had a lot to do with me not posting stuff, but in my new situation right now I think I'll at least be able to post a bit more often.

Of course, I don't have a lot of things to upload in this very moment, but give me some time to collect a bunch of stuff that I've been drawing and I'll update a big one.

But as for now, I'll just post my final roughs of my last character design assignment. The "good team" and the "bad guys". Hope you like it!
